Cheers Henry. Difficult to say as I add them to the list as a group so they are not always in date order. I also sometimes by mistake make duplicate entiries which I come upon when adding and then delete one of the entries. Finally some of the ID are possibles or to genus level only. That said all the entries other than mammals and bird are fully recorded on film and on flikr. The thousandth I guess is the Walnut spider. I will continue to the end of the year but most action has calmed down.

Welcome to the 1000 club Ian! A congratulations may be in order! What was the thousandth species out of interest? Your effort vividly reinforces how much amazing stuff is under our noses for those who have the time, luck, passion and skill to identify it all. Well done.
Henry.

Not sure on the Honey Waxcap - if you knead the stem for a bit you get the honey smell if it were, though there are plenty of orangey/red waxcaps that are not illustrated in most books.
The second fungus would not like to say.
Coleosporium tussilaginis is the current name for your rust and infects coltsfoot and pine too.
Forgot to mention I saw another yesterday same spot or the same one in the same spot which is on the earth bank of the path that goes fronm the boat house down to the dip/canal. Basking on earth banks is apparently a feature of these. The only other place I have seen these again with some regularity is on the Bury Rochdale Border near Birtle.

what I record as Altica cf lythri is always on Willowherb and is a similar dark blue. I say cf because the Altica paper has genitalia as diagnostic that all look alike!
Agelastica alni is Red Data Book Insufficient and is also listed as a worldwide tree pest by Googling.
I do not have a map of SBI just names and common sense so lower hinds is the hump of mud, swan lodge and goits is the lodge and two feeders up to warth fold. I will be able to remember where things were taken and sighted. I had Alder Leaf Beetke April 19th but there was also a black flea beetle here as well early in the year which i had as Altica lythri Flea Beetle
There's a lot to wade through but I put them into some sort of order. There will be mistakes so apologies for that and any corrections welcome because that the reason fior the photo record.
This dinner saw frog Bit in flower, two brown hawkersand some very curious brilliant flies dancing at the end of the canal and a few other bits. Talking to a fisheerman on pond 12 and he reorted Perch, Gudgeon, Roach and Carp in the pond

The beetle will be Alder Leaf Beetle - to which theres a seperate sightings section for it - i am sure Don Stenhouse would appreciate records being put there to help with his work.
Do you have maps showing where the boundaries of the Sites of Biological Importance are in our area? I have invited the GMEU to look at this topic on this forum, giving your name.
I know they would appreciate records presented ultimately on an SBI basis.
Maybe they will email you the SBI maps and citations if you ask.
MBB Canal SBI
Daisyfield SBI
Elton Reservoir environs SBI
Spen Moor ponds SBI
Black Lane Marlpits SBI
Wetland near (Coney Green School) Radcliffe SBI
Elton Goit (Old Hall Farm)
Lower Hinds alkaline waste aka"Vat" waste SBI
Swan Lodge and Goits SBI
By the way the black beetle on Alder is the one I meant by inflated blue beetle - its blue once you start to study it. It would be great if you could try to id' it and look it up on NBN, and google it too, and then tell me what you think.
The curious Fly pretty sure is Sicus ferrugineus encountered from May through September, feeding on nectar or pollen. Their larvae are endoparasites of bumble bees (B. lapidarius, B. terrestris, B. hortorum, B. pascuorum, etc.). They pupate and overwinter in ther victims. NBN has none for GM but almost certainly ovrlookedsolitary flies.

what could potentially be plant bug calocoris alpestris a green capsid so can be confused but if true rather rare. awaiting confirmation.
What looks like Amblyteles armatorius Ichu wasp
Plagiognathus arbustorum plant bug common on nettle

Fat, squat Donacia on Broad-leaved Pondweed always versicolorea. Good find as Canada Geese are destroying this plant (and all others) where they nest by small ponds.
Dip pond 8 broad bodied chaser female and loads of common darter.
Pond north of res near railway Pond 12 Azure Blue tailed and 2 Emerald Damsels. Last new on this site for me. This pond had a Emperor Dragonfly last year.
Reed Beetles
One seen several days ago Donacia vulgaris thankfully corrected by pondy
Yesterdays Donacia semicuprea thanks to Pondy for the article
And todays think Donacia versicolorea rather than dentata on pond 12 over 50
other bugs were found but will id later
I will keep a look out for the beetles as I've ignored black beetles on alder here as the site was hit by alder beetle and decimated lots of trees bare.

Have a look for the inflated blue leaf beetles sitting on Grey and Uk Alder and let me know what you think they may be. Found these on young Alder at Hinds Mill tip yesterday. (!)
This is an excellent resource for ID of Sheild and Plant bugs and started on Flikr.
This bug is one from the continent moving north apparently introduded reported on one site on an import of snap dragons
'Thank you very much for the details of your find. On this side of the Pennines it has been reported from Leeds (by Joe Botting) and from the East Riding of Yorkshire (by Bill Dolling). The latter record was of two females beaten from hazel a few weeks ago. These two are, so far, the most northerly records I have received. In Sheffield this has been turning up in increasing numbers over the past two years (most often on hazel) and now appears to be more commonly recorded than D. ruber! Today I was at a site near Nottingham where I recorded D. flavilinea from beating ash. '
I initially could not ID it and parked it in the un ID bin. So revisited and a nice find.
Also today another Donacia species from the canal. The one reported before is not Donacia semicuprea and is different to the one today. There were four of today type at the end of the canal and a very curious fly. Thanks to Pondi for the help with clarrification and correcting ID and I will put my thoughts tommoz.
Pics are the two found pairs of beetles and fly today also saw common blue damsel

Apdidae Anoecia corni It is parthenogenetic on the roots of grasses for much of the year and then produces sexual morphs
Pretty sure Deraeocoris flavilinea plant bug 'The host-plants are Sycamore and Field Maple, although it may frequently be encountered on other trees and shrubs. A species which has rapidly colonised the UK following its arrival in 1996 and is now widely established and common across southern and central Britain at least.' NBN has this only in the east midlands so this is quite a first so this is a prolific mover and has probably gone unnoticed.
Liocoris tripustulatus plant bug quite common often on nettles

A couple of years ago I recorded one Helleborine plant at Swan Lodge. If you go west from the main lodge you hit a ditch. On the slopes of the tip right near the ditch (near a pile of rubbish I took from the ponds and marsh there).
Actually I think it was Broad-leaved Helleborine I recorded. Come to think I dunno it I found it in flower.
Play round with the Sweet-flag on the lodge. Crush the leaves and they make a wonderful smell.
On the way down Bolton Road a Roe deer shot out from the road onto spenmoor heading north. I have been told of these by other on the site but this is the first I've seen here.
South Hinds LOADS of the Marsh Heleborine Common Centaury all over. Eyebright and I missed a huge mat of the Wild Thyme which measured 2m sq. all in flower. Common green grasshopper.
Swan lodge Imperforate St Johns Wort eyebright and loads of ribbed melliot on which was sat snipe fly Rhagio tringarius few other records for it on NBN for GM 2 south manchester.
On res Ampibios bistort in feeder and a male Banded Demoiselle - Calopteryx splendens which was too fast to get a pic. I've not see these on this site before but have seen them at Nob End Bolton further down the canal and Prestwich. Finally leaf hopper cicadella viridis withins.
